Dasht-e Lut in some scientific sources was also called the "Lut Deset" is located in south East of Iran.

It has divided to 3 main parts: southern Lut, Central Lut and Northern Lut.

It is about 175,000 Sq Km  in  area, which covers a region  surrounded  by Kerman,  South  Khorasan  and Sistan & Baluchistan Province.

In the Dasht-e Loot, strong winds blowing from east to west.

These winds took 120 days long  during  the  year  called  “ Sistan’s  one Hundred and twenty day  winds”  ( Sistani Winds). Sistn’s winds play a major role in creating morphological structures across the Lout desert which is called Kaluts.

There is a spot in Dasht-e Lout which is called the hottest place on earth. In five of the seven years—2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009—the highest surface temperature on Earth was found in the Lut Desert. The single highest LST recorded in any year, in any region, occurred there in 2005, when MODIS recorded a temperature of 70.7°C (159.3°F)—more than 12°C (22°F) warmer than the official air temperature record from Libya.
